The planets
If a sign says how and a house says where, a planet says what. These are the ten bodies this site computes and the two angles it draws: the same list every chart here is built from, and nothing padded in to look thorough.

twelve to thirty years in each sign, depending on its orbitThe two angles
Not planets: the points where the horizon and the meridian cut the ecliptic. Both need a birth time to the minute, which is why a chart cast without one leaves them out rather than guessing.

A planet says what. The signs say how it behaves, the houses where it works, and the aspects who it argues with. Or see what is retrograde now.
Your own
Reading about Scorpio is not the same as finding out you have four planets in it. Cast a chart. It costs nothing.
The other system
Twelve animals rather than twelve constellations, and a year that turns in February. The Chinese zodiac.
