Cancer begins at the summer solstice, the year's high turn, and its instinct is protective rather than expansive: make somewhere safe, then bring people into it. A planet here operates through attachment, and reads a room by feeling rather than by argument.
The Moon rules it, so it moves in cycles and holds what it has been through. Cardinal, which surprises people who expect softness to be passive — Cancer initiates constantly, just sideways and on behalf of someone.
