Upright

Upside down from the torii, halo glowing: the fox stopped struggling and the world turned over instead. Yield, wait, look again: the stuck thing loosens when you do.

Reversed

Suspension without insight: martyrdom, stalling, hanging on out of habit. If the pause has stopped teaching, it's just delay.

The Hanged Fox, painted three times

All three decks run the same seventy-eight cards, so this one has two siblings: the same card, painted for a different world.

The Hanged Lantern, from the Yōkai TarotYōkai TarotThe Hanged LanternThe chochin-obake hangs upside down from the torii and its light falls in a direction no upright lantern can manage. Stop struggling.
